Erika & Matt | Birdsong Barn, Titusville, FL

Today I’m posting a very special wedding!  This gorgeousness is from the wedding of my sweet friend, and talented photographer (and Owen’s swim teacher) Erika, and her new husband Matt. For as long as I’ve known her, Erika’s been planning her perfect wedding…the details, and date, have changed a few times, but one thing has always remained the same — that she wanted her love for Charleston, SC to be a big part of her big day.   I’ve only been to Charleston once, but I can certainly understand how one could fall hopelessly in love with a city that has such character and charm.    The backdrop for their rustic-chic wedding was the Birdsong Barn in Titusville, FL.   This was the first time I shot at, or even heard of, this adorable venue.   I am now in love with it, and the owner, Luanne, was so friendly, warm and helpful.  I truly hope to shoot many more weddings there in the future.   So, of all the things Erika planned to be Charleston-esque, the one thing she maybe didn’t plan for, was the insane Florida August heat.   We joked while she was getting dressed (and while her bridesmaids held a super old-school fan in front of her) that it really was like the deep south!   Despite the crazy heat, Erika managed to keep her cool and look breath-takingly beautiful.   I would like to say, also, that my no-wedding-day-rain-juju is still going strong!  We had some very ominous clouds earlier that morning, but I guess they took one look at me and ran the other direction, because it turned out to be one super gorgeous day.  In fact, it didn’t rain at all until about 9pm.   There were honestly so, so, so many things that I loved about this wedding.   a.) Erika did an incredible job bringing to life her pink & grey, DIY, Charleston-inspired dream wedding.  There were so many beautiful details to shoot I was like a kid in a candy store, b.) the venue, as I already mentioned, is now a new fave, and C.)  Half a dozen of my other photographer friends were in attendance!   Oh, and the whole bridal party did a karaoke sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody at the end of the reception, lighters in the air and all.  Total win.  There’s really nothing more special as a wedding photographer than capturing the wedding day of a friend.    I even got chills during the ceremony, despite the 3-digit temperature.  These images will always have a special place in my heart because I feel so connected to the joy that was felt that day.    I hope you love, and are as inspired by, this wedding as much as I am.   Congratulations  Matt & Erika, it was such an honor to be part of your wedding! Venue: Birdsong Barn, Titusville, FL
