Making good on my word to get caught up on blogging recent sessions, I’m going to post 3 of my recent engagement sessions today. I’m so excited to share these sessions and awesome couples! They are each so different and I love them all for such different reasons. Engagement sessions are a great way for my clients and I to get to know each other more and to get comfortable shooting together. I’m a big relationship person, and I think the more time I spend getting to know my couples, the more we understand each other and can work together to create beautiful wedding images. Wedding photography is SUCH a collaborative effort. There are so many people involved in the final product — of course the bride and groom; their participation, trust and willingness to make photography a priority on their wedding day is an absolute must. The parents, family, friends and coordinators who help organize, plan and pull everything together, as well as other wedding vendors like florists, caterers, officiants, etc. all play a part in how your wedding day photos will turn out. Of course it’s very important to choose a photographer who’s style you love, that you mesh well with, feel comfortable expressing your wishes to, who loves their work, who’s professional and dependable and whom you trust will capture those once in a lifetime memories. I really feel blessed to work with such wonderful people and it’s my pleasure and privilege to be such an integral part of one of the happiest, most special times for them. If you’re thinking about not doing an engagement session, I strongly encourage you to reconsider. Not only is a great time to get comfortable with your photographer, but it’s a great way to spend some fun, creative, special time with your betrothed, because after all – that relationship is really what it’s all about, right? Use this time to express who you are as a couple, what you love to do together, and most importantly, relax and have fun! OK, now that I’ve expressed my (apparently very strong) opinions on engagement sessions, lol, let me share with you my first sweet couple, Casie and Bo!
I met Casie and Bo at Summer and Matt’s wedding in December.
The first thing I noticed about them was how outgoing, fun and full of life they seemed, and how sweet they were when Matt mentioned that they just got engaged. Casie has this really cute way she crinkles her nose when she smiles at Bo (which is all the time!) and Bo just looks at her as if she hung the moon. You can tell instantly that they are in l-o-v-e love. So, of course I was thrilled when Casie contacted me about shooting their April wedding at Cross Creek Ranch. What an awesome venue! It’s the definition of rustic-chic and I’m SO excited to shoot their wedding there. I’m so glad that Casie and Bo chose to do their engagement session there as well because it gave me an opportunity to really check the grounds out and get some awesome ideas for their wedding day. I also love that they brought their dog, Lucy, along. It’s no secret that I’m a dog lover and I always welcome 4-legged family members to be part of any session! Casie and Bo, I’m so excited for your wedding, so honored that you’ve chosen me to be part of your special day and look forward to creating some amazing memories with you guys!
